Wrecked

Synopsis: A young gay actor lands his first big break on the stage, but the return of his self-destructive ex-boyfriend may ruin any hopes he has of achieving his dreams.
Quick review: You don't see a lot of American films like "Wrecked." It contains not only full-frontal nudity, but erect penises and simulated (or actual) sex. Off the top of my head I can name two other films in that category, that aren't porn of course. "Shortbus" is terrific, and "A Slice of Terror" is awful. This falls in between those two. Ryan is an 18-year-old actor hoping to make it big, landing a role in a local production mostly because the director wants his ass. But just as his big break arrives, his ex-boyfriend Daniel arrives. The last time Daniel broke his heart and left him a wreck. It appears Ryan hasn't learned his lesson. He's determined to "save" Daniel, from his lifestyle of sex and drugs. Of course Daniel has no desire to be saved and it's obvious early how this story will end. But the heart wants what it wants and nearly everyone can relate to falling for the wrong person, even when you know it will turn out badly. If you took out all the nudity and sex scenes it would be a pretty short movie. Still, even with those it comes in under 90 minutes. The boys are cute, but it gets a little boring watching simulated sex for that long and I found myself wishing for more of a plot.
