8.5 Hours

Year: 2008
Country: Ireland
Director: Brian Lally
Starring: Lynette Callaghan, Victor Burke, Jonathan Byrne, Art Kearns, Geraldine Plunkett, Tom O'Sullivan, Gary Egan
Synopsis: Times are good in Ireland as the country goes through its boom years, but the bubble bursting is just about to happen. For four co-workers, it might already have happened as they each go through a personal crisis on the same work day.
Quick review: Four people share an office and they have a big project deadline that is approaching. It's a great time to be in Ireland as it goes through economic growth it has never seen before -- they called this era the Celtic Tiger, but it's about to come to an end. There are four stories in this film, each based on the life of one of the four co-workers. Owen is the character that lands this film on a gay movie review sight. He's getting married to a woman, but has been having sex with men ever since he was introduced to a threesome by a good looking couple. He will admit, to one of his male lovers, that he's attracted to men as much as he is women, but he refuses to think of himself as gay or even bisexual. The other stories are not gay, but they are interesting. One woman will do whatever it takes to get an apartment in a trendy part of Dublin; one man sleeps around a lot (with women), but one of his past relationships is about to come back to haunt him when a crazy woman appears at his door; and a third man tries to deal with the aftermath of catching his wife having an affair with his best friend. This is a strong film that deals with the consequences of are actions and accepting who we are. Disclaimer: The distributor provided me a copy of the movie to screen.
