Quick review: Looking for a good Christmas gay movie? Keep looking. "Visions of Sugar Plums" suffers from all the trademarks of a low budget film. The lighting is bad, the sound is terrible, the acting is over the top, the plot is filled with stereotypes and cliches. You get the idea. Bruce and Joey are a gay couple getting ready to spend their first Christmas together. But Bruce's sister calls and tells her brother that their parents are on the way for a surprise visit. Bruce has never come out to his uber-religious parents, so he forces Joey to move in with a neighbor while they are in town. Of course, that leads to trouble in paradise. And when the family arrives it isn't long before the truth is out and the melodrama really begins. This is billed as a comedy, but not really. The scene where daddy finds out and starts beating his son kind of kills any comedy vibe. There's really not much to like about this film.
