Quick review:
This film is only a little gay, since it explores the different possible relationships between Carlos and Julia. It was 15 years ago that the couple had a date to see a movie, but Julia didn't show. From that point, the viewers are shown three different ways that the relationship could have gone. One of the three is the couple has a child but Carlos later realizes he's gay. Julia seems bitter because she can't get the man she loves out of her life because of the child they share. And she doesn't trust Carlos' new male partner around their son. The other two storylines are very straight: In one Carlos has become a player still living with his mother and bedding any attractive female who crosses his path, but is unable to forget Julia and settle down with one woman. In the other he is in a loveless marriage, still haunted by the date that never happened with Julia. And then he meets her again, 15 years later. Pulling off a film with three different storylines involving the same characters is not easy. Especially when you're telling each of the stories in 5-minute blocks. Still, this film manages to do just that by keeping the focus on Carlos. It gets a bit predictable at the end, but still it's an original way to look at relationships and kudos for including a gay storyline in what is otherwise a straight film.
