Get A Life

Year: 2006
Country: USA
Director: Toby Ross
Starring: Brian Campbell, Martin Aistrope, Michael Gonring, Paul Stark, Peter Marinelli, Valentina Stefano, Wildot
Synopsis: A lonely gay man wonders why he can't find love and fulfillment hanging out in a bookstore and having anonymous sexual encounters.
Quick review: When the film starts we meet Monty, a hot young thing who is spending the summer in Chicago and eager to have all the sex he can. But this film isn't Monty's story, sad to say. Instead, it belongs to Jamie. He is one of the regulars that hangs out at a creepy bookstore, longing for some fresh meat to enjoy through a glory hole. What Jamie wants, is a straight man who likes having gay sex. We meet the other regulars, trolls, trolls, trolls. But Monty has a thing for trolls, so he's very soon the most popular guy in Chicago. Jamie, on the other hand, is miserable. He's somewhat closted. He's tired of anonymous sex and wants something more. But he's unwilling to look for it outside the bookstore. Jamie wants Monty, but can't seem to get him off his troll fetish. Soon, out of nothing more than desperation and being stuck in jail together, Jamie strikes up a friendship with another troll. And for a while, it works. They keep each other company and seem to be having fun. But then that goes south and Jamie is alone again. Finally, Jamie finds himself a straight boy. It's one of his co-workers and they begin to hang out and have fun, all the while the flirting level increases. But this straight boy might have his own agenda. It is obvious that this is low budget film. But it's a nice effort and trolls rarely get films made about them.
