Out of Hand
Year:
2005
Country:
Germany
Director:
Eva Urthaler
Starring:
Birgit Doll, Georg Friedrich, Sergej Moya, Elisabetta Rocchetti, Ludwig Trepte
Synopsis:
This is a strange German film. Two German boys form a friendship that is anything but normal. Just for something to do, they kidnap a young woman. But then they have no idea what to do with her.
Quick review:
Sebastian is a spoiled rich kid who shows all the signs of being gay. He's a bit of a loner, but looks like he prefers it that way. A new boy, Paul, has moved to town and it appears he wants to be friends. The two start a friendship that explores new avenues of stupidity with each passing day. They hang out at an abandoned factory, smoking, drinking and looking at porn. On a visit to a local store, Sebastian is caught trying to shoplift by Sonja, one of the clerks there. This humiliation leads him to spy on the young woman, following her home. They witness Sonja having a fight with her lover, then storming out to spend some quality time with a washing machine in the basement of her building. Without ever talking about it or probably knowing why themselves, the two boys kidnap Sonja. They force her to come back to the factory, where she can scream all she wants but no one will ever hear her. But now what do they do with her. Neither boy seems sure. As Paul's attraction to Sonja grows, so does Sebastian's anger at Paul. The situations spirals out of control and it can only end badly.
