Quick review:
David is a teen who dreams of becoming an actor, in part as a means of escape from his home life. His father has left the family to be with another woman. His mother has crawled inside a bottle and it appears she may never climb out. David's brother has had enough of the family and takes off. His sister is mostly a basketcase, forcing him to act like the only adult in this dysfunctional family even if he is the youngest. He's taking an acting class from the good looking Kenny, a has-been actor longing for his glory days. Kenny is thirtysomething, but good looking enough that an affair with a 16-year-old seems plausible. David hasn't yet admitted to being gay, so the relationship is awkward. But slowly, as the two fag hags who love their gay men watch, they become a couple. David needs someone stable in his life who can help him grow and maybe start him on a career in acting. Kenny is looking to reconnect with his younger days, when he was the golden boy young actor. Unfortunately, drugs get in the way and become a crutch for both men, trying to fill the need they aren't getting from their partner. It will take many bad decisions by nearly everyone before this story gets sorted out. If you've read a lot of my reviews, you know by now how I feel about drug use movies. On the whole, this isn't a bad film. But, between the drug use and a thirtysomething man chasing after a 16 year old, it's not going to get a high rating from me.
