Hellbent
Year:
2004
Country:
USA
Director:
Paul Etheredge-Ouzts

Dylan Fergus, Bryan Kirkwood, Hank Harris, Andrew Levitas, Matt Phillips
Synopsis:
A serial killer pursues four gay friends during a West Hollywood Halloween celebration, making this one one of the first gay slasher films.
Quick review:
This film follows the horror genre formula so well it would be unremarkable except for one fact: It's gay men who are being slashed instead of clueless women. It's Halloween night and Eddie decides to dress up as a cop. His buddies Chaz, Joey and Tobey tag along as the guys you know must die before we get to the climax scene, Eddie vs. the killer. In this case, very little attention is paid to the killer, who dresses up as Satan. We have no idea why he kills, or what his background is. But people who enjoy these movies are not looking for psychological studies. They wants to be scared, see lots of gores, and throw in some false starts on the violence, so they can relax right before the next killing. And that's what you get with Hellbent. Eddie's met a cute guy, Jake, and the two of them are trying to get off before the killer can complete his murders for the night. This film has plenty of hot guys so it's easy to watch. If you're a fan of the horror genre and have always wished for a gay version, now you have it. Just don't expect them to do anything new. It's the same old plot from Friday the 13th to Halloween to Nightmare on Elm Street. Only gay.
