USA

Greg Pritikin, Gary Rosen, Jackie Latzman
Starring:
Greg Pritikin, Gary Rosen
Synopsis:
Two friends struggle with the careers, love lives and feelings for each other in this low-budget independent film based in Chicago.
Quick review:
This is another in a long history of projects of love, where the same person (or people in this case) wrote the screenplay, directed the film and even act as stars. You have to admire anyone who has that dream and watches as it becomes reality. In most cases, the low budget of these films of love ensure they will never be commercial successes. But, for some it will lead to new opportunities. In this case Greg Pritikin and Gary Rosen will probably have to be happy with this one film. They tell the story of two slackers working dead-end jobs in Chicago. Johnny is a music store clerk with dreams of becoming America's next music sensation. He has an agent who is promising him big things, but never seems able to deliver. He also has a girlfriend that is getting a little tired of his lack of direction. His best buddy is Wiley, who works at a bookstore and whose most intimate sexual experiences have come with magazines. He obviously has feelings for Johnny, but lacks the courage to act on them. When he learns that Johnny once had a same-sex sexual experience as a teen, he begins to find that courage to make his move. This comedy has some humorous moments, but few laugh out loud ones.
