Quick review:
Just in case you haven t seen enough movies where a straight boy plays gay so that he can win the girl, along comes Freshman Orientation. It s a typical film aimed for young audiences with a predictable plot, but it s still fun to watch. Freshman Clay (Sam Huntington) who wants to have as much sex as possible before he s forced to start acting like an adult sees Amanda (Kaitlyn Doubleday) at a frat party and falls for her, but doesn t know how to approach her. When Clay and his best friend are the butts of a fraternity s practical joke, everyone on campus believes they are gay lovers. Amanda is required by her sorority sisters to get a gay guy to fall in love with her, and then once he does, break his heart. To get close to Amanda, Clay goes along with the ruse, even learning how to put some swish in his step from John Goodman, who plays gay (again), as the bartender of a local gay bar. Yeah, you can see where this is going. The gay boy is really straight. The straight boy is really gay. And the two lovers both lie to each other before falling for each other, and then don t know how to repair the relationship. Despite its formulaic plot, it s still an enjoyable, if average, film.
