Synopsis: The death of a gay man brings changes to three men in his life: his partner, his brother-in-law and his cousin.
Quick review: Every few years a movie is released that tells the same story from different points of view. It hasn't been so overused as a device that it has become cliche, but you know the potential exists. This story is told from three different points of view, but thankfully it still seems fresh. The key is that the audience is constantly learning new things about these three men and the situations they are in, even when we've been there before. All three plot lines start with the death of Stuart. First up is his brother-in-law Dan, who seems a bit restless and is entertaining the idea of adding some excitement to his life. Next, we watch the pain and loss that Nick, Stuart's partner, feels as he struggles to adjust to a new life, one that might include a new love interest no one ever expected. Finally, we get to know Tim much better. In the first two segments, Tim is the loud, brash, lazy cousin few can stand and everyone is hoping will leave town soon. But in the final act the audience learns that outward appearances often hide what's really going on and that there was more to Tim's story than most realize. It's a good film for all those reasons, but it's unlikely to stick in your memory a week after you've seen it.
