Quick review:
Most low-budget films look it and you know right away that you're dealing with film festival quality work and you're just hoping for a glimpse of something better to come. And in the first few seconds of this film, you know it's low budget. In fact is was made on a budget under $600 (Canadian). But, by the end of this solid work you've forgotten about it being low budget because you've been swept away by the story. And I can think of no better compliment to give to a movie made with so few dollars. Riley has been the good son, who stayed behind in a small town to help his mother take care of the family farm. Bad son Chad left years ago for mysterious reasons and since his father's funeral, has not been back since. Once mom dies and leaves the two boys with no inheritance, Riley decides to go to Vancouver and live with his brother, starting a new life. He's openly gay and knows the big city has much more to offer him. On the way there, he picks up a cute hitchhiker named Gavin. Meanwhile, Chad is having problems with his own romance with a woman. There are many issues to work out in the film's brief 85 minutes: Chad's past; tension between the brothers; Riley's romance with Gavin and the growing friendship between Riley and Chad's girlfriend. The writer-director team pull it off. The DVD also comes with two short films.
