Ben & Arthur

Year: 2002
Country: USA
Director: Sam Mraovich
Starring: Sam Mraovich, Jamie Brett Gabel, Michael Haboush, Bill Hindley, Nick Bennett and Arthur Huber
Synopsis: Ben and Arthur are a gay couple who want to get married and are frustrated by U.S. laws that refuse to grant them the same rights available to straight couples. When they return from getting a civil union, Arthur's brother has a negative reaction.
Quick review: New rule. When you see the same name in the opening credits six or more times, you know that the film will be the product of one-man's love, but will probably not be very good. That's the case with this film. Sam Mraovich is all over the credits, as actor, writer, director, executive producer, casting, et al. Maybe getting other people involved in the project would have made it a better movie. The production quality and acting are below standard. The plot is over the top to the point it gets a little silly, and that's not what you want in a suspense film. Arthur's brother Victor is a reglious man who wants to save his brother from eternal damnation, even if he has to kill him to do it. You get the idea. You get one message from this film: Gay people good, straight people bad. Skip this one. You have better things to do with your 90 minutes.
