Quiet Days in Hollywood

Year: 1995
Country: USA
Director: Josef Rusnak
Starring: Hilary Swank, Bill Cusack, Peter Dobson, Natasha Gregson Wagner, Chad Lowe, Daryl Mitchell
Synopsis: Strangers in Hollywood deal with the turns that life sends their way in a series of stories that show how interconnected we are to one another. One of stories is of a closeted gay actor and his boyfriend.
Quick review: The plot device is we are introduced to a character, who has some sort of adventure. That character interacts with another character. Once the first story is done, we follow the second character on to their adventure. It keeps going like that until the story circles around to the first character. The gay angle comes late. A closeted actor has just won the Best Actor award and taken his beard home. He returns to his under-construction mansion to celebrate with his boyfriend/houseboy. The boy toy is unhappy to spend his life hiding in the shadows and missing out on the Hollywood parties. The rest of the stories aren't very interesting. In fact, neither is the gay story. Someone liked the angle so much they put most of their work into arranging chance meetings to move to the next story, and forgot to write compelling stories.
