Quick review:
I really liked this movie, right up until the end. Then it takes a turn that makes no sense and left a bad taste in my mouth. Paulie and Tory are in love, but Tory is terrified of being found out. Paulie's love borders on obsession that's hard to comprehend. My watching these two through the eyes of Mouse we can judge them honestly. Everything is going along great until Tory's younger sister walks in and catches the two lovers. That moment drives a wedge between the two lovers as Tory tries to hide her orientation from her sister and the other students. Paulie, to say the least, does not react well and Mouse is stuck in the middle. Until the ending, it feels like an honest love story filled with mistakes that people make in their everyday lives. And then, the ending comes out of the blue and you wonder what in the hell they were thinking. It's meant to be poetic, but for me it left a bad taste in my mouth. Still, I'll give it a four because it's better than most lesbian films up until that point.
