Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Year: 1994
Country: Australia
Director: Stephan Elliot.
Starring: Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Bill Hunter.
Synopsis: Three female impersonators cross the Australian Outback in search of a show and discover secrets about each other.
Quick review: It's got great music, top actors and loads of campiness. A fun movie everyone should see, and almost everyone has. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? It's earned its place as a gay classic. Mitzi (Hugo Weaving) receives a call from the woman he married in a moment of weakness years ago asking him to put together a drag show for the resort she manages smack in the middle of the Australian continent. Mitzi agrees, and asks Felicia (Guy Pearce) and Bernadette (Terance Stamp) to join them. The three take their bus -- named Priscilla, queen of the desert -- across the outback, having many adventures in route. When they finally arrive in Alice Springs, Mitzi has another surprise to spring on her traveling companions. This film has great music, helped define campiness in gay movies and it belongs in the collection of every gay movie fan.
